Not Sorry Art Texas Painting Retreat

Creating a plein air painting.

My time in Spain this past summer teaching a weeklong painting retreat was such a fun and rewarding experience that I knew I wanted to teach more events like it in the future.

Coming off of Covid lockdowns, I hadn’t taught an in-person workshop in over two years when I landed in Almería, Spain, for this new adventure. But any nerves I had were quickly put to rest as I encountered a group of passionate artists eager to work on their craft and excited by all the inspiration around them. That’s why I’m thrilled to host another international retreat this upcoming June in Morocco, and why I’m now excited to announce my first U.S. retreat here in Central Texas March 22-27, 2023.

So many of you have said some form of, “If you ever host a retreat near Austin, I’ll be there” that I knew I had to make it happen. A close friend of mine happens to operate a retreat venue in Wimberley, Texas (45 minutes outside of Austin), and the opportunity to share my painting techniques on this 100-acre property in the beautiful Hill Country was too good to pass up.

I’ll be teaching my approach to still life and landscape painting each day, and students will learn through my demos and putting the lessons to work in their own paintings. We’ll set up still life scenes to paint from and translate the rugged terrain into stunning landscape pieces created en plein air.

I’ve personally stayed on the property and the accommodations are wonderfully relaxing and luxurious. With five unique residences each with multiple room options, you are bound to find a space that suits your needs perfectly. All meals are included each day plus snacks and beverages.

Whether you’ve attended an art retreat before or this would be your first, I hope you will join me this spring for a painting experience of a lifetime. I can attest to the immense value to your painting practice that a workshop like this provides, and making new artist friends is a lovely bonus.
